Scott woman jailed on multiple counts of identity theft, bank fraud

Scott, LA (March 31, 2026) – Gloria Babineaux, 58, of Scott, is facing several felony charges after she was arrested by Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies on Monday. She was subsequently booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

Following a financial crimes investigation, detectives determined that Babineaux used the victim’s financial institution credentials to pay rent at a local apartment complex, totaling more than $11,000. Detectives later obtained an arrest warrant for seven counts of Identity Theft, seven counts of Bank Fraud, three counts of Attempted Identity Theft, and three counts of Attempted Bank Fraud.

This investigation remains ongoing. No further information is being released at this time.
