LAFAYETTE, LA (August 15, 2024) – Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) will begin repairs to the sewer mainline at the intersection of West Congress Street and Lafayette Street. The project is set to start on Monday, August 19, 2024, and will take approximately 10 calendar days to complete – with expected working hours from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Westbound traffic will be rerouted to the turning lane as a single lane. Lafayette Street and Madison Street will be closed from Oliver Street to West Congress Street. The eastbound lane will remain a single lane for eastbound traffic.
To avoid potential traffic delays, motorists who frequent the affected area are advised to use an alternate route or to incorporate additional time into their schedules. In addition, motorists are urged to be mindful of worker safety when traveling through this area.
