UPDATE: Boil Water Advisory In Effect for Select Schools

A boil water advisory has been issued for certain areas, including J. Wallace James Elementary School, Carencro High School, Live Oak Elementary School, J.W. Faulk Elementary School, David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy, Evangeline Elementary School, Acadian Middle School, Northside High School, Truman Elementary School, and Alice Boucher Elementary School.

LPSS Resumes School on January 18, 2024

After closely monitoring weather and road conditions and thoroughly assessing all facilities, the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) has announced the resumption of regular operations.

LPSS Extends School Closure

In response to the ongoing extreme cold weather and below-freezing temperatures in the area, the Lafayette Parish School System has decided to extend the closure of all schools and facilities.

LCG Declares Civil Leave; Trash and Transite Also Suspended

In response to record-low freezing temperatures, Lafayette Mayor-President Monique Boulet has declared Civil Leave for Lafayette Consolidated Government employees beginning at 8:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

LPSS Announces School Closure Due to Extreme Cold Weather

After assessing the impact of the extreme cold weather in our area and in consultation with local officials, the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) has decided to close all schools and facilities on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, in the best interest of safety for students, faculty, and staff.
