Lafayette Parish, LA (June 3, 2026) – The Lafayette Parish Assessor’s Office would like to remind volunteer firefighters that they may be eligible for an additional property tax exemption on their primary residence.

This exemption is one way our community recognizes the dedication, sacrifice, and service that volunteer firefighters provide every day to help keep Lafayette Parish safe. Eligible applicants can receive a reduction in the assessed value of their primary residence, resulting in potential property tax savings.
