This update for Lafayette Parish Council District 3 is the last for Josh Carlson; he was recently elected as State Representative for House District 43 and will take office on January 8, 2024.
Ken Stansbury was elected to the Lafayette Parish Council District 3 on October 14, 2023, and will take office in January 2024.
During his final update, Carlson advised the Lafayette Consolidated Government 2023-2024 budget was finalized last month. Since November 1, 2023, LCG has been operating under the new budget which covers November 1, 2023, to October 31, 2024. Now a $3 million in reserve, Carlson stated when he took office four years ago, there was a $50,000 reserve.
Concerning roads, LCG partnered with the City of Broussard to reconstruct Garber Road and recently completed the project.
After the 2016 Flood, LCG identified a list of drainage projects, which they are continuing to work through, according to Carlson.
In conclusion, Carlson expressed his gratitude by thanking his current constituents for giving him the opportunity to serve them for the last four years. He enjoyed working for them and felt that a lot of good was done. He also thanked the constituents of Louisiana State Representative District 43 for their trust in him to represent them in Baton Rouge and pledged to continue working hard to serve them and the district.
