Broussard, LA (May 15, 2026) – Broussard has been named the sixth safest city in Louisiana in SafeWise’s annual statewide rankings, moving up from No. 8 last year.
SafeWise, a home safety and security research organization, bases its rankings on FBI crime data, comparing violent and property crime rates among cities that meet its reporting criteria.
Broussard was one of two Acadiana communities to make the top 10, joined by Carencro.
The improved ranking comes as Broussard continues to grow, with new residential development, expanding business activity and a steadily increasing population.
SafeWise reported that Broussard was among a small number of Louisiana cities with zero reported rapes during the reporting period used for the analysis.
According to SafeWise, the rankings are based on the most recent FBI crime data available from cities that submitted complete reports, with crime rates calculated per 1,000 residents.
For one of Acadiana’s fastest-growing communities, the jump from No. 8 to No. 6 reflects a positive public safety trend as the city continues to expand.
SafeWise rankings are based on reported crime statistics and represent one measure of public safety rather than a complete picture of residents’ overall experience.
