Harold James Romero, Sr., former Broussard Police Chief, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023. He served as chief from 1982-1990.

Romero passed away due to a vehicle accident.

According to his obituary, Romero was not only the Chief of Police but also owned a mechanic shop and a Texaco gas station. He also worked as a bus driver for forty-two years for the Lafayette Parish School Board. Romero knew no strangers and helped anyone he could.
