House fire at 224 Friendship Street

LAFAYETTE, La. (Jan. 4, 2024) – Lafayette firefighters responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Friendship Street at 7:07 p.m. last night (January 3, 2024). When firefighters arrived, flames came from a bedroom window in front of the dwelling. The fire was quickly brought under control. The home sustained heavy fire damage. 

The dwelling was not occupied. According to the owners, the house has been vacant for approximately six months. There was no utility service to the dwelling.

Fire officials determined the fire originated in the bedroom. The fire is under investigation.
