Lafayette Parish, La. (Jan. 17, 2024) – After closely monitoring weather and road conditions and thoroughly assessing all facilities, the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) has announced the resumption of regular operations. All schools and facilities will reopen on Thursday, January 18, 2024.
Road conditions have improved, and roads are open for students, faculty, and staff to travel to and from schools. LPSS maintenance and administrative teams have worked to address the impact of the extreme cold weather on facilities, and we anticipate all facilities will be operational tomorrow.
The district appreciates the school community’s cooperation and understanding during the recent extreme cold weather event and looks forward to welcoming students back to classes tomorrow.
