LAFAYETTE, La. (Jan. 19, 2024) – In response to the imminent below-freezing temperatures approaching again on Friday, January 19, 2024, Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) is reopening a warming center to provide refuge for individuals experiencing homelessness or who lack adequate heat. Working in coordination with Catholic Charities of Acadiana and other community partners, this collaborative effort works to ensure the safety and well-being of the most vulnerable members of our community during this extreme weather event.

Those needing warm shelter can present at St. Joseph Diner at 613 West Simcoe Street in Lafayette starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 19, to be transported to the prepared LCG warming center or present in person at the Dupuis Recreation Center at Brown Park at 1234 East Pont Des Mouton Road in Lafayette, beginning at 3 p.m.

Warming centers will remain open until Sunday, January 21, 2024, when temperatures rise above freezing.
