Ordinance #24- 789 was introduced during the Broussard City Council meeting on January 23, 2024. The ordinance amends the 2023/2024 Operating Budget of Revenues and Expenditures by allocating $40,000 to purchase police equipment. This equipment is intended for the newly acquired building (pictured above) located at 5801 Highway 90 East in Broussard, which will serve as the new police station.

The funding requested is for the following equipment:

  1. Evidence Pass-Through – State Contract $16,027.38
  2. Evidence Room Cage – obtained three quotes – $9,025.00
  3. Axon Interview Room – State Contract $12,608.44

The equipment costs a total of $37,661.02.

Police Chief Vance Olivier has clarified that the requested equipment must be delivered within a certain time. Therefore, he plans to order the equipment well in advance so that it can be delivered before the renovations start on the newly purchased building, which will later serve as the new police station.

The council approved introducing the ordinance, which must be adopted at the next meeting for the purchase to proceed.
