LAFAYETTE, La. (Feb. 26, 2024) – At 7:56 p.m. on February 26, 2024, Lafayette firefighters responded to a mobile home fire at 216 Conrad Street. A neighbor reported the fire. When firefighters arrived, the mobile home was fully involved. The neighbors informed first responders that the dwelling was not occupied. Firefighters extinguished the fire within fifteen minutes of arriving on the scene. The mobile home sustained heavy fire damage.

Fire officials determined the fire originated in a rear bedroom. The mobile home did not have any utilities. Neighbors informed fire officials that someone was squatting in the home. The male has lived in the vacant mobile home for about a week.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
