Pizza Hut Damaged by Fire Last Night

LAFAYETTE, La. (Mar. 3, 2024) – At 1:36 a.m., Lafayette firefighters responded to a commercial fire at Pizza Hut, 4404 Ambassador Caffery. When firefighters arrived, flames were venting through the roof of the building. Emergency crews entered the business and discovered the fire spreading in the space above the ceiling. Firefighters battled the commercial fire for approximately thirty minutes before getting it under control. The building sustained heavy fire damage.

Fire crews responded to Pizza Hut at 9:14 p.m. on March 2, 2024, to a report of smoke coming from air conditioning vents. The employees called 911 to report the smell and light haze in the business. Emergency crews examined the HVAC system and turned the power off to one of the units. The restaurant was cleared.

Fire investigators are examining the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
