From the Youngsville Fire Department

YOUNGSVILLE, LA (Mar. 12, 2024) – Youngsville Fire Department (YFD) will flow-test all hydrants within the city limits over the next two weekends.

This is extremely important for us for a couple of reasons:

  • To verify that all hydrants are in proper working order and not obstructed by anything that would prevent us from using it in an emergency requiring water.
  • We are required to perform preventative maintenance and flow testing every year to ensure the water flow rate is adequate for that area. The rating company that rates us every four years, which determines your homeowners’ insurance rates, wants to ensure that this is done annually.
  • You may notice some discoloration in your water in the areas being tested that day.
  • Do not be alarmed; this is completely normal, and we do this every year.
