LAFAYETTE, LA (Mar. 17, 2024) – On March 16, 2024, at 10:05 p.m., The Lafayette Police Department (LPD) responded to the 800 block of Delord Street in Lafayette, Louisiana, in reference to a shooting incident in progress. Upon arrival, LPD Officers located one male victim on the scene suffering from apparent non-life-threatening injuries due to the shooting incident. This victim was then transported to a local hospital by Acadian Ambulance. While on the scene, LPD Officers were made aware of two additional victims from this shooting incident who were brought to local hospitals by way of private transportation. The two victims who were privately transported to local hospitals sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to their person. A crime scene was established and LPD Investigators were called out. All victims are expected to make a full recovery.
Preliminary investigation details that this incident originated at a private birthday party in the 800 block of Delord Street. During the birthday party, attendees brought the festivities into the roadway to the 800 block of Delord Street. Not long after the party migrated from a private residence to the roadway, shots were fired into a crowd of people who had been attending the party by an unknown suspect(s).
LPD investigators worked overnight to identify the suspect(s). More details will be released as they are found.
