UPDATE
LAFAYETTE, LA (May 7, 2024) – Joshua Alesi was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center today on new charges related to the fatal crash on Mills Street on April 4, 2024.
Alesi was booked for Vehicular Homicide, First Degree Negligent Injuring, and Operating While Intoxicated (Felony).

LAFAYETTE, LA (Apr. 5, 2024) – Joshua Alesi, thirty-three, is charged with Negligent Homicide, Negligent Injuring, and Careless Operation stemming from a multi-vehicle crash in the 2200 block of Mills Street on Thursday afternoon.
A sixty-two-year-old woman was killed in the crash. Other drivers and passengers in the involved vehicles were also injured.
Alesi was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on the aforementioned charges. The investigation, conducted by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team, remains ongoing; toxicology results are pending.
