UPDATE
LAFAYETTE, LA (May 3, 2024, 1:05 a.m.) – On May 2, 2024, at 7:48 p.m., The Lafayette Police Department responded to the 4000 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway, in regards to a major motor vehicle accident involving a truck and a motorcycle.
Preliminary on-scene investigation revealed that Vehicle 1 was traveling North on the 4000 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway in the designated left turn lane.
Vehicle 2 was traveling South on the 3900 block of Ambassador Caffery Pkwy. in the outside lane. Vehicle 1 turned left to travel West on Dover Boulevard, crossing Vehicle 2’s lane of travel, at which time Vehicle 2 struck Vehicle 1 on the passenger side rear.
Driver 2 was pronounced deceased on scene by the Lafayette Parish Coroner. Driver 1 was brought to the ATAC command bus and submitted a voluntary breath sample of 0.000g%BAC. This crash remains under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department Traffic Division.
The victim has been identified as Ronnie Lee Trahan, thirty-four, of Maurice, Louisiana.

LAFAYETTE, LA (May 2, 2024) – The Lafayette Police Department is on the scene in the 4000 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway regarding a major motor vehicle accident. At this time, two vehicles have been reported to have been involved. Injuries have also been reported.
The 4000 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway is blocked off at this moment. Traffic is being diverted in both directions of travel. Motorists should use caution if traveling via this area and/or select an alternate route of travel.
Traffic Investigators are currently on the scene and assessing the totality of the accident. As more information is gathered by LPD Traffic Investigators, an update will be provided.
