ARREST MADE

LAFAYETTE, LA (Jun. 1, 2024, 9:08 a.m.) – An arrest has been made regarding the suspicious package located at Our Lady of Lourdes. Lafayette Police Department (LPD) Investigators have arrested one, Albert Romero, 38, of Lafayette, LA, in reference to this incident. Albert Romero has been charged with one count of terrorizing and has been booked into LPCC.

LAFAYETTE, LA (May 31, 2024, 10:34 p.m.) – The scene regarding the suspicious package at Our Lady of Lourdes has been cleared and made safe. The parking lot area is cleared, and the hospital has resumed normal functions. This incident remains under investigation.

LAFAYETTE, LA (May 31, 2024, 7:15 p.m.) – The Lafayette Police Department (LPD) responded to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital (formally known as Women’s and Children’s Hospital) located at 4600 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, about a suspicious package in the parking lot area. Due to the totality of circumstances related to public safety, the parking lot area and hospital were placed on lockdown. A crime scene was then established. Lafayette Fire Department, Louisiana State Police, Hazmat, and other agencies responded to assist in making the scene safe. At the moment, proper protocol is being followed to ensure public safety. An update shall be provided once the scene is cleared and made safe.
