LAFAYETTE, LA (August 22, 2024) – Seven new graduates can now call themselves alumni of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO) and South Louisiana Community College’s (SoLAcc) Technical Welding Program following their graduation on August 21, 2024.

Gabriel Breaux, Jeremy Boss, Beau Boudreaux, Anthony Comeaux, Christian Fuselier, Gregory Grant, and Patrick Mowrey received certificates for successfully completing the program.

Since August 2017, the LPSO and SoLAcc have partnered to provide training opportunities to offenders in the LPSO’s Corrections Division. The collaboration aims to reduce recidivism and equip offenders with valuable skills they can carry with them far beyond graduation.

While all of the participants maintained excellent marks throughout the program, two of Wednesday’s graduates, Beau Boudreaux and Christian Fuselier, finished with an outstanding 4.0 GPA.

Graduates of the program receive a technical diploma in welding and the option to continue classes at SoLAcc to work toward obtaining an associate’s degree upon their release.
