LAFAYETTE, LA (August 26, 2024) – Two males have been arrested for the shooting that occurred on August 24, 2024, at 4:00 a.m. One juvenile male (black/male/16) was booked into Lafayette Detention Home on one count of felony aggravated battery by shooting and one count of illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile. The second juvenile (black/male/16) was charged with one count of aggravated battery by shooting and one count of illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile and released to a custodian.

LAFAYETTE, LA (August 24, 2024) – On August 24, 2024, at 04:00 a.m., Officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 800 block of Martin Luther King Jr Drive about a shooting in progress. Officers were able to locate the victim, who was suffering from an injury to her chest. She was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and is listed in stable condition. Witnesses advised the suspect was inside a nearby apartment.
Members of SWAT called the suspect out of the apartment without incident. The suspect was found to be a juvenile (16/B/M). Detectives at the Lafayette Police Department are currently interviewing the suspect, victim, and witnesses. The investigation is still ongoing, and an update will be provided when new information is obtained.
