LAFAYETTE, LA (November 30, 2024) – Lafayette firefighters responded to a commercial fire at Studio Bloom Salon, 1100 block of Coolidge Street, at 9:30 a.m. An employee entered the business and discovered the building filled with smoke. The employee immediately called 911. Firefighters arrived and located a smoldering fire in the lobby area. Emergency crews finished extinguishing the small fire and ventilated the business.  The business’s interior sustained heavy smoke and moderate fire damage in the waiting area.

The business was not occupied when the fire started. Employees left the salon around 3:00 p.m. yesterday. When the employee arrived this morning, she opened the door and smoke discharged from the salon.

Fire officials determined the fire originated in the waiting area. The fire involved small appliances on decorative stands. Due to a lack of sufficient oxygen, the fire began to smolder. It basically self-extinguished. The fire is under investigation.
