LAFAYETTE, LA (December 24, 2024) – On December 24, 2024, at 02:42 a.m., officers with the Lafayette Police Department (LPD) were dispatched to the 100 block of North West Evangeline Thruway about a shooting. Upon their arrival, a victim was located with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was stabilized on scene and transported to a local hospital by ambulance, where he is undergoing surgery. The suspect was not located on the scene, but multiple witnesses were identified. The witnesses indicated an altercation occurred, which led to the victim being shot.
Detectives with LPD are working diligently on this investigation. An update will be provided as more information becomes available.
