Vacant Dwelling Destroy by Morning Fire

LAFAYETTE, LA (January 4, 2025) – Lafayette firefighters responded to a vacant house fire in the 500 block of Lafayette Street at 10:48 a.m. The small wood-framed dwelling was fully engulfed in flames as first responders arrived. Firefighters brought the fire under control in fifteen minutes. However, the dwelling sustained heavy fire damage.

The dwelling was abandoned. There were no utilities supplied to the home. Neighbors informed firefighters two homeless individuals were recently staying in the house.

Fire investigators continue to examine the dwelling to determine what caused the fire. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Lafayette Fire Department at (337) 291-8716.
