Lafayette, LA (January 23, 2025) – At 6:30 p.m. last night Lafayette firefighters responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Noble Street. The resident called 911 to report smoke in the house. Both occupants exited without any injuries.

Firefighters arrived on scene to flames emitting from the roof of the dwelling. Emergency crews entered the attic and interior of the house to extinguished the fire. The fire was brought under control within fifteen minutes. The home sustained moderate fire damages.

Fire officials determined the fire started in an exterior wall. The fire propagated to the attic of the dwelling and vented through the roof. The owner experienced a pipe leakage due to the hard freeze. A plumber utilized a heating torch to repair the water pipe. The conducted heat ignited combustible material in the wall.

The cause of the fire was ruled an accident.
