Rayne, LA (February 18, 2025) – Derek Greene, 54 years old, of Gastonia, North Carolina, was arrested in Lafayette Parish on Sunday following an incident in the 100 block of Sunrise Point Drive.

Detectives learned Greene had arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s home after midnight, where he fired shots at her residence before forcing his way inside. Once inside, Greene attempted to shoot his ex-girlfriend and an additional victim before he was disarmed and fought off.

Greene fled the scene in a vehicle and was later apprehended by deputies in Acadia Parish.

Greene was later booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder.

This case remains under investigation. No further information is available at this time.
