BROUSSARD, LA (March 1, 2025) – History and architecture enthusiasts have a new reason to visit Broussard with the opening of the Victorian Experience at the Paul Billeaud House. This unique business will offer monthly historical tours of the iconic Billeaud House, giving guests a glimpse into the city’s rich past.

Located at 302 East Main Street in the heart of Broussard, the Victorian Experience will host guided tours for groups of up to 30 guests. Tours begin on Saturday, March 15, 2025, with two sessions available at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Each tour will conclude with a traditional afternoon tea service.

Built in 1911 by Paul Billeaud — one of Martial Billeaud’s sons — the house was designed for his wife and three children. It remains the largest and most ornate Victorian-style residence in Lafayette Parish. The home’s architectural features include asymmetrical design, contrasting shapes, a domed octagonal turret, and complex geometry — making it both stately and whimsical. Over the years, the house has served as a bed and breakfast, wedding venue (formerly known as The Victorian), and private residence.

Business owner and homeowner Julie Rosenzweig shared her passion for the project: “I could talk all day about the fascinating history of our home and the City of Broussard.” Her husband tells her she really should just “stick to the bullet points” when showing visitors around their home. Her reply to that was, “Well, I don’t want to stick to the bullet points – I want to tell my guests everything there is to know about this unique structure and our community. What better way to share our rich history with guests from near and far than to open our home periodically for tours with a traditional high tea?”
