Broussard, LA (May 6, 2025) – The City of Broussard is preparing for strong storms and the possibility of flooding, as severe weather is expected to roll across the area over the next 24 hours.
“All of our city departments have been getting ready for this severe weather event,” said Broussard Mayor Ray Bourque. “Broussard Police, Broussard Fire, Public Works, and city staff are primed to respond.”
Free sand and sandbags are available at the following locations:
- Broussard City Hall – 310 East Main Street (behind dumpsters)
- Deer Meadow Subdivision – corner of Deer Meadow Blvd. and Myette Point
- Broadview Drive – by the Broussard Community Center
These sandbag stations are self-bagging and are open until the threat of heavy rain has passed. Residents will need to supply their own shovel and manpower.
Waste Management recycling pickup will not run on Wednesday, May 7. Residents are advised to keep trash/recycling cans secure and do not place them at the road.
The Broussard Sports Complex at St. Julien Park (BSC) will close tonight at 7 p.m., and all evening activities are cancelled. It will also be closed on Wednesday, May 7.
