Weekend Shooting in Broussard

Broussard, LA (June 16, 2025) – On June 14, 2025, at approximately 11:40 AM, Officers with the Broussard Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Young Street for the report of someone being shot.

Upon arrival, it was found that there was a physical altercation where a firearm was produced and the suspect gained control of the firearm, discharging it, striking the victim multiple times. Officers assisted the victim found in the area. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.

Donald Richard, an 18-year-old black male, was taken into custody without incident.

Richard was arrested and charged with Attempted Manslaughter. Richard was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
