Broussard, LA (August 10, 2025) – The intersection of Main Street and Morgan Avenue is now open to traffic. The work done at the intersection is part of the final phase of the city’s Envision Broussard downtown redevelopment plan.
“It was our goal to complete and open the intersection as soon as possible,” said Broussard Mayor Ray Bourque. “We appreciate the patience from our residents and businesses during construction.”
Contractors are following the Envision Broussard blueprint by placing improved sidewalks, drainage, and utilities, and modernizing the design of the intersection with Broussard’s iconic gears, which symbolize the city’s industrial spirit. The city also required street access to businesses at the intersection to remain open.
“The intersection is the heart of our downtown. The businesses surrounding the intersection make the Main Street area thrive,” said Bourque. “We understand there were some challenges for
them during construction, but I am optimistic that upgrading Main Street and Morgan Avenue will bring more people downtown.”
Sidewalk and infrastructure work will continue from the intersection on Main Street, west to Clara Street and east to Polk Street, and on Morgan Avenue, north to the railroad tracks and south to Madison Street.
Envision Broussard’s aesthetic and infrastructure enhancements stretch 2.2 miles, from the city’s gateway sign at the intersection of Main Street and South Bernard Road to Albertson Parkway.
Phase 1 and Phase 3 are complete. The current construction, Phase 2, is expected to be completed in early 2026.
