Saturday was a day of celebration in Youngsville as two local businesses marked some pretty exciting milestones, Downtown Acai celebrated its first anniversary, while Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Youngsville celebrated 10 years in the community.
The celebrations kicked off with an official Youngsville Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting at Downtown Acai, located at 501 Church Street. The ribbon cutting marked one year since owner Cortney Meyers and his family opened Downtown Acai and added something new to Youngsville’s growing local business community.
And the celebration didn’t stop there.
Just next door, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Youngsville was celebrating an even bigger milestone, a full decade in Youngsville.
10 Years of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in Youngsville
For 10 years, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Youngsville has been a place for students of all ages to learn, grow, build confidence, and challenge themselves on and off the mat.
The anniversary celebration included a special recognition from Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter, who presented a proclamation officially declaring September 19 as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Day in Youngsville in recognition of the academy’s 10-year milestone and commitment to the community.
That wasn’t the only special part of the day.
Ryron Gracie, grandson of Grandmaster Helio Gracie, was in Youngsville for the celebration and anniversary seminar. Having a member of the Gracie family in Youngsville made the 10-year milestone even more meaningful as the academy celebrated its connection to the history and legacy of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Youngsville is also one of only two certified Gracie Training Centers in Louisiana.
Celebrating With the Community
Mayor Ritter was joined by members of the Youngsville City Council, Chamber representatives, local business owners, students, families, friends, and supporters who came out to celebrate both businesses.
And that’s what made the day special. These weren’t simply two business anniversaries. They were milestones built through years of showing up, serving customers and students, building relationships, and becoming part of the Youngsville community.
For Downtown Acai, one year represents the beginning of its story in Youngsville.
For Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Youngsville, 10 years represents a decade of students, families, classes, growth, discipline, and memories made along the way.
