South Louisiana Gymnastics Academy (SOLA) is a full service gymnastics gym for both boys and girls of all ages. They even have classes for adults. SOLA has something for anyone who is wanting to do gymnastics.
Competitive gymnastics training and recreational classes are provided. Their competitive training covers all Olympic gymnastic events.
What makes SOLA unique is children from as early as six months can participate. Designed for children from six months to four years old, their “SoLittle” PreSchool Gymnastics’ program promotes physical, social and cognitive development in the little ones.
For those interested in recreational gymnastics, which is their largest clientele, SOLA has their Ninja Monkey Gymnastics. This program is for children starting at age four. The program helps provide the children with agility and speed, teaches them how to flip and jump freestyle and more. There is an obstacle course and has traditional gym instruction.,
SOLA has two nine week sessions for adults who either want to refresh their gymnastics skills or want to try it for the first time.
SOLA opened in 2014 in Broussard. They started with seventy people and now have two hundred taking their training and classes. Boys and girls compete on separate teams.
Eric Robles, owner and trainer of SOLA said he started with gymnastics when he was seven years old. It quickly became his sport. During high school he was on their competition team. After graduating from college, he coached at his high school in Texas, where they won state championship on the high school level.
All are allowed to compete in the state level. In order to move on from state to regional then from regional to national levels is based on achieving a certain quality score and placement. Two of SOLA’s boys’ teams went to the Junior Olympic National Championship in Reno, NV in April 2022.
Robles said he takes pride in their championship teams. He is also proud they offer gymnastics for all, even those who aren’t seeking the competition aspect of gymnastics.
