Lafayette, LA – Today, agents with the United States Marshall Service Violent Offender Task Force (USMS VOTF) along with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Gregory Jones Jr. 28. Jones had an active arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.  Jones’ warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred on 11/07/022.  Jones was taken into custody and booked into Iberia Parish Jail where he will be transported to Lafayette on a later date.

Attempted Homicide

Lafayette, LA – On November 07, 2022 at around 11:50 pm officers with Lafayette Police Department responded to a shooting in progress in the 1000 block of North Pierce Street.  According to Investigators two masked men wearing all black made entry into the residence and held the occupants at gunpoint.  A struggle ensued between one of the male occupants of the residence which resulted with the occupant being shot. The suspects then fled the residence with miscellaneous items on foot.  The victim, a 30-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim is currently still in the hospital in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
