Last night’s Broussard City Council Meeting held a few surprises on the Appointments of Municipal Officials (see Upset with Appointments of Municipal Officials). On other matters during the council meeting:
The vote for approval of members of the Planning and Zoning Commission was tabled until the next City Council meeting.
Alderman-at-Large Jeff Delahoussaye was unanimously voted as Mayor Pro Tempore.
Under Ordinances for Introduction, Ordinance #32-751 contained three separate items 1) appointing the municipal officials 2) The Advertiser newspaper as the official journal of the City of Broussard and 3) establishing regular meetings for the City Council on the second and fourth Tuesday of each and every month, with the exception of the month of December which has only one meeting on the second Tuesday said meeting to commerce at 6 p.m. On a majority vote, the ordinance was split out separately to allow for the voting for each item separately. Appointments for municipal officials were also voted on separately.
Appointments for municipal officials were as follows:
- City Clerk: Tina Emert, opposed by 4-3
- City Attorney: Gerald Delauney, unanimous approval
