What is Lazy Caveman? It is a place to get home-cooked comfort foods such as boudin, boudin eggrolls, fried ribs, fresh and smoked sausage, and other meats.
Look for the Lazy Caveman to open at noon on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. A ribbon cutting will be held at 10 a.m. on the opening day.
Breakfast and plate lunches with sides will be available. The hours of operation are Mondays through Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
One of the owners, Jonathan Linzer, advised that he and his partner and longtime child friend Julius Flugence would hang out while smoking large pieces of meat, having drinks, and listening to music. According to Linzer, they were told they were like “lazy cavemen” and decided to name their meat store “Lazy Caveman”.
It was important for both Linzer and Flugence to locate their business in Broussard. Flugence was born and raised in Broussard, while Linzer moved from St. Martinville to Broussard around 1993. The two friends met at Broussard Middle School.
