BROUSSARD, LA (March 31, 2025) – On Tuesday, April 1st at 1 pm, LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency), along with our community partner, the City of Broussard, will host a Donate Life Flag Raising Ceremony honoring organ and tissue donor heroes. The event will take place around the flagpole at St. Julien Park, 701 St. Nazaire Road. Mayor Ray Bourque will say a few words and remarks from LOPA representatives. The Donate Life flag will be presented by the Honor Guard and blessed by Pastor Moak of First Baptist Church Broussard before the flag is raised. The flag will fly the entire month of April.
“We are honored to partner with LOPA again this year in remembering and paying tribute to all LOPA heroes and their families,” says Mayor Ray Bourque. “We are proud for St. Julien Park to serve as the backdrop for these families to celebrate and honor their loved ones.”
Every April, LOPA focuses statewide attention on the potential individuals have to save lives by registering their decision to be an organ, tissue and eye donor. There are almost 2,000 Louisianans currently waiting on their second chance at life. Observed every April for the last 20 years, National Donate Life Month (NDLM) honors organ, tissue and eye donors and encourages Americans to help save lives by joining the donor registry.
We invite you to join us as we honor our heroes and share their incredible gifts with our community. Representatives will be available for interviews following the ceremony. If you do plan to attend, please arrive no later than 12:45pm to set-up. The ceremony will begin promptly at 1pm. Please contact Suzanna Morton, LOPA Community Educator, if you have any questions.
