LAFAYETTE, LA (September 24, 2024) – The Northeast Library Committee will meet with the design consultant on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Main Library, located at 301 West Congress Street in downtown Lafayette.

The consultant from 720 Design in Dallas, Texas, will present via Zoom at the public meeting. The meeting’s purpose is to introduce the committee to the consultant and to begin planning and community outreach efforts for the Northeast Library construction project.

In May, Lafayette Parish finalized the purchase of a six-acre lot to build a new library in the northeast of the parish. The property is located at the 100 Block of Shadow Bluff Drive.

The committee’s mission is to express the community’s particular needs to the Library Board of Control so that they can be considered in designing the Northeast Library.

When they met on September 5, 2024, committee members reviewed the project’s timeline and budget. The public can view the committee’s last meeting minutes by visiting https://lafayettepubliclibrary.org/board.
