Broussard, LA (April 15, 2026) – The City of Broussard is entering into an agreement with the City of Youngsville to construct a roundabout at the intersection of North Larriviere Road and Young Street, also known as Louisiana Highway 92, replacing the existing four-way stop.
The intersection is located along the boundary of the two cities, with the northeast portion within Broussard city limits.
The Broussard City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night, April 14, 2026, to approve an intergovernmental agreement with Youngsville for the project.
In a statement, Broussard Mayor Ray Bourque described the intersection as a well-traveled area, particularly in the mornings as parents and students travel to and from Southside High School. He said the agreement is another example of cooperation between Broussard and Youngsville, two of the fastest-growing areas of Lafayette Parish.
Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter said the agreement allows the cities to meet the local match requirement for the federally funded project.
A previous announcement published by BY Local News Media in September 2024 noted that the City of Youngsville was awarded a $3,034,575 grant from the United States Department of Transportation to fund the roundabout project, which is intended to improve traffic flow and enhance safety at the intersection.
