Cassidy Announces $3.7 Million for Generator Projects in Jefferson, Tangipahoa, Tensas

WASHINGTON (November 27, 2024) – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced Louisiana will receive $3,732,971.80 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for generator projects in Jefferson Parish, Tangipahoa Parish, and Tensas Parish.

“Louisianans are strong and resilient,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Funding for generator projects ensures that when the next storm hits, more folks can keep the lights on, ultimately speeding up our recovery process.”

$1,356,980.00Jefferson Parish Generator ProjectThis grant will fund the purchase and installation of 15 portable generators in Jefferson Parish, LA to provide back-up power for critical facilities to allow for continuity of services and support recovery efforts after natural disaster events. It also provides funding for associated management costs.
$1,320,436.35Tangipahoa Parishwide GeneratorsThis grant will fund the purchase and installation of 10 generators in Tangipahoa Parish, LA: eight permanent industrial generators, switches and the associated foundation pads, and two portable generators to provide emergency/backup power to critical facilities during power outages, and maintain critical services for the health and safety of the citizens. It also provides funding for associated management costs.
$1,055,555.45Tensas Parish Parishwide Generator ProjectThis grant will fund the Tensas Parish Government purchase and installation of 12
permanent industrial generators, switches, the associated foundation pads and security fencing in order
to significantly reduce the threat of “failure to function” and improve its ability to maintain local government services in the event of future power outages. It also provides funding for associated management costs.
