Broussard Announces Three New ‘Retail Ready’ Zones

09/28/2022

The City of Broussard announced the availability of three new property zones as part of its “Retail Ready Initiative.” This program — exclusive to Broussard — identifies and designates properties of 5 acres and larger that are shovel-ready and suitable for new retail investment and commercial development. The three new zones include locations/properties in the Ambassador Caffery & Ambassador Commons area and the frontage of the Broussard Sports Complex at St. Julien Park.

The Retail Ready Initiative is a collaborative effort among the City of Broussard, the Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA), and the Broussard Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) to identify strategically located sites which are then expedited for restaurant and retail development. Detailed information about each Retail Ready Zone, including relevant property and zoning details, available incentives and demographic information, will be available online for interested investors.

“Broussard is blazing the path to attract large and small business to our community. Our Retail Ready Initiative is extremely attractive to developers interested in serving small businesses, specifically retail markets. When Broussard can demonstrate that land is ready for development and we take a proactive stance in the collection of relevant information on each property to attract business investment, that encourages investment in our great city. New businesses create jobs, jobs stimulate the economy, and a strong economy attracts new residents creating growth — and the cycle continues. There is no better time to invest in Broussard than now,” said Mayor Ray Bourque.

The Ambassador Caffery area comprises two of the three zones and several properties. The first location is located on Ambassador between S. Morgan Avenue and South Bernard Road: 5.5 acres, 28.6 acres and 13.3 acres. In the second zone, Ambassador Commons Zone, located just south of Ambassador Caffery at Highway 90, there are two more lots of 25 acres and 58.9 acres, respectively.

The third Retail Ready Zone is located along the frontage of the Broussard Sports Complex at St. Julien Park. One property is 20.4 acres and the other is 15.5 acres. More information about both zones can be found at https://www.developbroussard.com/retailready.

According to Mandy Mitchell, president and CEO of LEDA, “a healthy retail sector is a key contributor to a community’s quality of life and economic vitality. I commend the City of Broussard on its efforts to promote retail development through the Retail Ready Initiative and to expedite the process for retailers to begin operations in Broussard. This initiative may indeed serve as a model for other municipalities in Lafayette Parish as we work together to enhance our competitiveness parish wide.”
