What is a Certified Site? According to the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) website, a certified site is: “The LED Certified Sites program qualifies industrial and business sites for use based on zoning restrictions, title work, environmental studies, soil analysis, and surveys. These sites are 180-day development-ready and undergo substantial due diligence studies to receive certification.”
BEDC participates in Louisiana’s Certified Sites Program. Its participation assists business clients within Broussard or those considering moving to Broussard to provide economic development incentives and programs or work with landowners to prepare sites to make their development ready through the state’s site certification program.
BEDC coordinates closely with Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA), which is the Parish economic development organization, and One Acadiana, which is the regional economic development organization when assisting business clients within Broussard or those considering moving to Broussard to provide economic development incentives and programs or working with landowners to prepare sites to make their development ready through the state’s site certification program and the city’s Retail Ready Initiative.
As part of One Acadiana’s Site Development Program, these certified sites help streamline the site selection process for businesses by ensuring that properties have completed essential evaluations, including environmental assessments, zoning approvals, and infrastructure readiness. This program reduces the time and risk associated with commercial and industrial development, making Broussard an attractive choice for future investments. [source]
