Broussard, LA (July 9, 2025) – The City of Broussard has finalized the acquisition of several buildings downtown that will be transformed into a new Broussard City Hall Municipal Complex. The city purchased these properties, including the former Broussard Elementary School and the adjacent buildings located on E. Madison Street, for $3.675 million.
“We are moving forward with our plan to expand, by taking advantage of existing facilities, to provide the highest quality service to residents,” said Broussard Mayor Ray Bourque. “This plan saves taxpayer money, repurposes and preserves the historic Broussard Elementary, and prepares the city for future growth.”
This acquisition also allows for the creation of additional parking along the Main Street corridor, a need that was identified in the Envision Broussard downtown redevelopment plan.
“The new city hall complex will be the centerpiece of our vision of downtown Broussard, with new multi-use sidewalks and streetlighting along Main Street and more parking, to make downtown more appealing to residents, businesses, and visitors,” said Bourque.
The city is currently formulating a realistic timeline to move city departments from the current location of Broussard City Hall, 310 E. Main Street.
