Yesterday evening we had our Broussard City Council meeting and it was very informative. In attendance we had Mr. Blake Miguez and Mr. Josh Carlson.
Blake is our Louisiana State Representative for District 49 and he gave us an update on the Louisiana State Legislative Report. Here are some high points:
- This year was the first time ever the state budge had a surplus
Our legislators were able to add an additional $200 million to th Hwy90/I-49 upgrade project
- Mr. Miguez was instrumental in getting the Constitutional Carry Law passed, this will allow our military veterans in good standing to conceal carry.
In addition the City of Broussard will begin working on the largest drainage improvement project we have ever seen, Coulee Fortune. Mr. Mel Bertrand our Public Works Director will be heading this project.
Great things are coming to Broussard and South Louisiana!
