IBERVILLE PARISH, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces today that work will begin to repair the right lane on Interstate 10 eastbound near Whiskey Bay, along the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

Yesterday, emergency contractors visited the site to assess the damaged section of the bridge deck and develop a work plan.

At this time, work is estimated to be complete on Monday, November 20, 2023, prior to peak Thanksgiving travel.

The right lane was initially closed in October 2023 after crews discovered extensive damage to the bridge deck while conducting repair work.

With the impact of the lance closure to traffic, DOTD has the following resources in place to assist motorists.

  • MyDOTD: Motorists can receive information on local projects, lane and road closures, and other DOTD activity by signing up for MyDOTD at www.dotd.la.gov.
  • 511 Traveler Information: Travelers can also find information regarding road closures and traffic by visiting www.511la.org or by dialing 511 from their telephone and saying the route or region about which they are seeking information. Out-of-state travelers can access the system by calling 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511).

Oversized loads will not be permitted through the project area until the lane is reopened.

The emergency contractors for this project is Lafayette based C.E.C., Inc.
