Duhon Appointmented YPD Assistant Chief

Youngsville, LA (November 12, 2025) – The Youngsville Police Department is proud to announce the appointment of Kenneth “Kenny” Duhon as our new Assistant Chief. Raised in Youngsville, Duhon returns home, bringing 42 years of exceptional law enforcement experience to serve his community.

Duhon served with distinction at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office for 33 years, retiring in 2016 as Assistant Director of Training and Professional Development. He then continued his public service with the Office of State Fire Marshal, where he rose to the rank of Captain. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from UL Lafayette.

Throughout his career, Duhon has demonstrated expertise across multiple specialized areas including crime scene investigation, DARE instruction, dive team operations, motors leadership, special reaction team tactics, and accident investigation and reconstruction. He commanded both the Dive Team and Motors, served as a sniper team member, and holds numerous certifications in law enforcement, fire inspection, and emergency response.

His vast experience in patrol operations, training, investigation, and leadership, combined with his deep roots in our community, will be invaluable as we continue to serve and protect our growing city.
