Lafayette, LA (February 15, 2025) – The unofficial results of the February 15, 2025, special election for Louisiana State Senate District 23 are as follows:

  • Brach Myers of Lafayette, Louisiana, received 6,769 votes (55%)
    • He has served as the Louisiana State Representative for District 45 since January 2024.
  • Jesse Regan of Broussard, Louisiana, received 5,591 votes (45%)
    • He has served as the City Council Member for District 3 in Broussard since January 2019.

These results are pending official confirmation.

Former State Senator Jean-Paul Coussan vacated his District 23 seat after winning his bid for the Public Service Commission of District 2 in the November 5, 2024 election.

“All statewide and local candidates in Louisiana are elected by majority vote. A majority vote is one more than 50% of the total votes cast for that office. When one candidate is to be elected, a candidate who receives a majority of the votes cast for an office in a primary election is elected. If no candidate receives a majority, the top two candidates who receive the most votes advance to the general election.” [source]
