LAFAYETTE, LA (September 6, 2024) – The police department is seeking candidates interested in joining our Police Explorer program through Boy Scouts of America. Police Explorer Post is a hands-on program with classroom lessons open to young men and women interested in learning more about careers in police and emergency services. All training will take place at our police department. Explorers will experience firsthand what it’s like to be a police officer. The explorers will attend monthly trainings to learn various aspects of the job such as responding to emergency incidents and traffic stops and participating in non-emergency procedures.

WHEN: Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.
The orientation for interested applicants will be held at the Lafayette Police Department on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. Students or individuals between 14 and 18 years of age with an interest in law enforcement are encouraged to attend the orientation. All underage students must have a parent present. The program is open to individuals who meet all qualifications and are interested in exploring a career in the police service.
