LAFAYETTE, LA (February 13, 2025) – Lafayette, Louisiana, recently hosted the largest Senior Beta Club convention in the organization’s history, drawing over 7,300 high school students from around the state. The event was held from January 29 to 31, 2025, at the Cajundome and was coordinated by the National Beta Club staff in collaboration with Louisiana Beta Club sponsors.

“We are thrilled to have been a part of this record-breaking event and congratulate Louisiana Beta on such a successful gathering,” said Ben Berthelot, President and CEO of Lafayette Travel. “One of the many benefits of holding an event in Lafayette Parish is our location, making it easy for attendees from across the state to attend. We look forward to the opportunity to bid on hosting Senior Beta again in the future.”

Throughout the three-day convention, students competed in various events, including officer campaigning, academic tests, robotics, quiz bowl, speech, performing arts, and visual arts. The event showcased the talents and leadership of Louisiana’s youth, with top-place finishers qualifying to compete at the National Beta Club Convention this summer in Orlando, Florida.

In addition to the competitions, $30,000 in merit-based scholarships were awarded to outstanding Louisiana high school seniors, recognizing their academic achievements and community contributions.

Dr. Keith Leger, Louisiana Beta Club State Council Chair, expressed his excitement about the event’s success, stating, “This year’s Senior Beta Club convention was a remarkable celebration of student achievement and leadership. We were thrilled to see the largest gathering in Beta history right here in Lafayette, and we look forward to seeing these exceptional students represent Louisiana at the national level.”

Upcoming Elementary and Junior Beta Club Conventions

Next week, the Cajundome will host the Louisiana Elementary and Junior Beta Club conventions from February 17-21, 2025, which are expected to draw thousands of students and educators. Combined, these back-to-back events are projected to generate an estimated economic impact of $2,639,015 and create 3,050 room nights for the local hospitality market.
