Boulet stated she brings focus on ethical government, economic growth in address to citizens of parish
LAFAYETTE, La. (Jan. 3, 2024) — Mayor-President Monique Boulet took the oath of office at a ceremony beginning at 3 p.m. at the Cajundome Convention Center. In her address to the public Boulet focused on economic growth and providing trustworthy leadership in parish government. Highlighting the needs of both rural and urban areas of the parish, Boulet took time to focus on all areas of needed growth and support.
She specially called out the long-anticipated I-49 connector project, saying, “Lafayette sits as the hub of Acadiana. The Lafayette Connector project sits at the intersections of I-10 and I-49. It is imperative we work with our legislators, our state leaders, and Governor Landry to complete the planning process of the Supplemental Record of Decision. We are so close to this project being truly shovel ready. I encourage all of you to lift your voices to Baton Rouge as we together make this project a priority.”
Boulet thanked local and state leaders at the top of her address.
“We are united here today with people from all parts of the parish, women and men, black and white, Republican and Democrat, young and old, from the great cities of Lafayette, Broussard, Carencro, Scott and Youngsville, the town of Duson and all areas in between. We are united in the knowledge that our future is bright and we have great work to be done,” said Boulet. “I pray that my tenure be marked by prosperity, inclusivity, and the transformative power of collaborative leadership.”
