BROUSSARD, LA (April 9, 2025) – The City of Broussard has provided three offices for the Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard (AVHD). These offices are located in the old Broussard Police Building on Main Street.
Jim Weber, with the honor AVHD, addressed the Broussard City Council last evening to thank the council for approving the honor guard’s use of the offices. Weber also led the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of the council meeting.

Mayor Ray Bourque and council members thanked the AVHD for serving the United States.
AVHD consists of veterans from the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.
The Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard, founded in 2014, is a not-for-profit organization that was formed to address the need to provide every honorably discharged Veteran in Acadiana with military funeral honors. Their target area of service is 45 45-mile radius around Lafayette, Louisiana.
In 2024, AVHD provided over 200 ceremonial military funeral honors to deceased veterans and other events, such as an honor ceremony for veterans in hospice. Miliary funeral honors typically include folding and presenting the American flag to the family, playing “Taps,” and firing a rifle volley.
