LAFAYETTE, LA (January 13, 2025) – Lafayette firefighters responded to multiple 911 calls of a house fire in the 300 block of Jeanette Street at 7:12 p.m. this evening. When firefighters arrived on the scene, portions of the dwelling were engulfed in flames. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes. The home sustained heavy fire damage.

The two occupants, mother and adult daughter, were inside when they heard a popping sound. The mother looked outside to investigate the sound. She noticed the carport on fire. Both exited a rear door. A neighbor assisted them to cross the fence in the backyard. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
